Just Read: Amanda Hess Calls Out Myopic Journalists

I’ve enjoyed reading Slate staff writer Amanda Hess’ articles before (particularly her piece on why many men misinterpret #YesAllWomen, and her piece on Jill Abramson’s impact during her tenure as the executive editor of the New York Times) but I was practically fist-pumping as I read her latest article. Hess states, in no uncertain terms, why “it is very, very stupid to compare Hope Solo [female soccer star accused of domestic violence] to Ray Rice,” and she does so with cogent arguments and by keeping her tone level, sharp, and satisfyingly withering.
